Holy Hodgepodge Batman!

Okay, I haven’t blogged in a while but cut me some slack. This is the first time I’ve been old and I’m still dealing with the inevitable changes that come with age. Turning 57 doesn’t really mean I’m old, but to be honest, I actually feel 57; which is to say, I no longer “feel” young. But that’s okay. I’ve gotten past the traumatic realization of my own mortality. I’ve decided to view the rest of the trip, not as a descent, but as an ascent. For I’ve reached the point where I truly believe the best is yet to come. The Bible says, the path of the just is as the shining light, which shines more and more until the perfect day.
On Sundays, I’ve been preaching through the book of Genesis reflecting on those characters who serve typologically as Christ. And nobody comes close to Joseph when it comes to portraying the person and work of our Lord Jesus. No wonder God used a fourth of the book to give us his story. I encourage you to read it again, looking for the Master, seeing the hand of God ruling and over-ruling in the affairs of life to accomplish His perfect plan. It encourages me to trust God no matter the circumstances. John Ortberg said, “God isn’t at work producing the circumstances I want, He is at work in bad circumstances to produce the me He wants.”
I hope you will pray for me as I do my best to lead our church and preach the Word, The acquisition of the house and property next door has brought new challenges for us. Our immediate need is addtional parking. We also need to get our small groups revitalized and work at starting new groups. Of course, reaching people for Christ is at the heart of all we do here. Prayer is absolutely essential to our success and growth as a church. So please, take a moment and pray for us. And grace to you all!
